When you put out your grey water hose , have some thought for where the runoff will end up .
GREY WATER RUN-OFF
If you want to start an argument among caravanners , just raise the subject of grey water . It ’ s hard to imagine any other subject that divides opinion more . Fortunately , the majority of caravan parks provide a drain for grey water disposal , but many do not . In those cases , you may be required to direct your grey water onto nearby gardens or grassed areas . The problem is that this runoff is largely uncontrolled – the water can run anywhere , including into your neighbour ’ s site . It gets worse : we ’ ve seen people deliberately put their grey water hose directly onto another site to avoid putting it onto their own .
When you put out your grey water hose , have a look at the ground around you to ensure that any runoff will flow away from any other site . If that ’ s not possible , perhaps consider directing it under your van so as not to annoy your neighbours .
DUMP POINT CLEANLINESS
While we ’ re on the subject of dealing with our waste , we need to highlight the way some travellers treat the dump point at the caravan park . Again , the majority of visitors keep this facility clean . But many do not . I ’ ve lost count of the number of times I ’ ve used the dump point only to find it blocked , overflowing , or with solid material left around the drain . It is quite disgusting how some people mistreat them .
For the courtesy of others , clean up the dump point after you have used it .
