EXCEEDING THE SPEED LIMIT
If there was a pet hate of mine , this would be it . The speed with which some people drive around caravan parks defies belief and is nothing short of dangerous . All it would take is for a young kid or a dog to step out in front of them and they would have little hope of stopping in time .
That is why caravan parks have speed limits that are little more than walking pace . It ’ s not to annoy you . It ’ s for the protection of other guests who also use the driveways .
Please , if you see a speed limit sign at a caravan park , obey it . If there isn ’ t one , please keep your speed to a walking pace .
DOGS AND KIDS OUT OF CONTROL
While we place a great responsibility upon drivers in caravan parks , we also need to remind parents and dog owners to be mindful of their responsibilities as well . You cannot allow your kids or your dogs to run around unsupervised and , in the case of dogs , off-leash . Apart from the obvious dangers of moving vehicles , they can annoy other park guests .
A few years ago , we were staying in a caravan park in Cairns and were awoken at 6am to the sounds of a child cracking a stock whip outside our van . Now , I ’ m all for kids learning new skills and experiencing new things but , as parents , you have to be reasonable and be aware of what your children are doing at all times .
Dogs and children need to be supervised at all times .
