FREEDOM CAMP OF THE MONTH

LIGHTHOUSE CAMP ON THE BEACH !

South Australia ’ s Limestone Coast has a wonderful selection of freedom camps ; however , many of them are for self-contained vehicles only . But the good news is that there is a ‘ donation camp ’, Carpenter Rocks Rec Reserve , which is now open to all types of camping . Tents and camper trailers are now permitted as well , but regardless of how you camp , you must bring your own toilet .

Previously , the Carpenter Rocks Progress Association limited stays to 72 hours only , but now you can camp there for up to two weeks .

We thought this was an awesome camp . It is across the road from Bucks Bay Beach and within walking distance to a store and a pub for meals . It is a perfect campsite for fishers , as well as nature lovers and 4WD enthusiasts who want to explore Canunda National Park .

The huge pet-friendly reserve has toilets , picnic tables , rubbish bins , barbecue facilities , a playground , a tennis court and a dump point . Apparently , even the TV reception is good !
