TRAVELS WITH KINGDEANO ADVENTURES
As the rainforest wasn ’ t dogfriendly , we took turns to stay with Twyla in our van while we each walked the 40m-long elevated rainforest platform , which stood 15m high above the ground cover below . The cantilevering platform provided a stunning outlook to oversee the rainforest . We also took the stairs down onto the boardwalk , which meandered around the rainforest in a loop . There ’ s a small carpark with toilets where you can pull over . Our next local destination that afternoon was the Redwood Forest . We had been recommended this forest , and it didn ’ t disappoint ! This may be the most impressive attraction in Warburton , being a cluster of over 1000 Californian redwoods that were planted in perfect rows . Walking amongst the trees felt like something from a movie . There is a carpark on the edge of the plantation , and a coffee van to appease coffee lovers ( with a donut or two !).
The forest left us in awe . As we stood amongst the towering trees , they made us feel incredibly small in comparison . If you visit , take your time to admire the light pouring through the canopy . Even though a few people were visiting , with how the trees were aligned , at times it felt like we were the only ones there . Adam and I both enjoyed our time here , taking many photos and videos . Unfortunately , this attraction wasn ’ t pet-friendly either but it is worth the visit .
Warburton reminds us a lot of another Victorian town , Bright , with its beautiful trees , the river running along the town ’ s edge , and plenty of people out and about , cycling and enjoying nature with picnics and fishing . If you ’ re looking for a town east of Melbourne to get you into nature , Warburton delivers with its bounty of green scenery .
