LETTERS FROM THE ROAD

WHAT A JOKE!
In regards to your article last issue about Lightning Ridge( GoRV # 97), twenty-four hours in any town is ridiculous! Lightning Ridge is a place where you could spend seven days and still not see everything!
Yes, this reporter covered a couple of the things that make Lightning Ridge attractive to travellers, but there are multiple car door tours throughout‘ The Ridge’, and each one of them is simply amazing!
Doing one a day gives you time to speak to the locals. We spent a week in The Ridge. After my wife walked into the Lifeline shop and found nothing on the shelves, she eventually sent it a lot of secondhand clothing, kitchen products and a pile of everything a household needs because this op shop was only open three days a week for two hours at a time because it had nothing to sell.
By talking to the locals, and spending time in a town, you come to know their town. Look at what you are missing!

+ LOST IN LIGHTNING RIDGE!
Hi Peter, thanks for your letter. I sent it to the writer of the article in question, Mark Allen, for his thoughts. He responded:“ Glad you loved your time in Lightning Ridge and the assistance you gave Lifeline is fantastic. I agree, as I noted in my article, that a week would be perfect to spend in and around the town, as there is much to see and do. We saw many( car door) signs for the car door tours and would have loved to have had time to see more, but unfortunately our time was limited to a day and two nights.” – Ed
MIND YOUR OWN‘ BUSINESS’
I was parked in the Rainbow Beach area of Queensland when I spotted a man literally emptying his toilet cassette into bushes! I immediately asked him what he was doing but he just said it was‘ fine’ because it was just‘ number one’ in the cassette! Fancy that! I told him it was disgusting and that other people would want to camp in that site after he was gone, but he just shrugged his shoulders and told me to mind my own business!
